How To Repair Abs Sensor Wire

  1. #1 What tin can I practice to supervene upon the abs sensor wires?

2003 Grand Prix. 187,000 miles. New Moog wheel bearings. Both the ABS and low traction lights are on, been like that for some time. I tried to remove the wiring from some junkyard GP's, and noticed that the wires are very thin. Are they 18 or 20 gauge? Has anyone tried to run new wires from the ECBM to the connector on the bicycle bearing for the front wheels?

I had the same outcome. I tried the kit and information technology even so didn't work. Ended up replacing the whole run with 16 gauge to exist safety. I'd try the kit start though. Another matter to check is for corrosion on the ebcm connector itself. I had to replace a few terminals to get things to work, though that'southward an farthermost instance. Usually they tin be cleaned merely fine.

Had ABS light for right front. Wire looked fine on the exterior. It was broken inside the insulation. Bought the Dorman ABS wire kit, soldered in, no problems since. Pretty common problem on here.

Yup! Though I completely concur with Scotty, information technology's much amend to know what code yous are throwing considering the light can hateful many different things. In improver to the wire, I also had to replace my module due to a second fault, so you could have more than one issue. Simply improve to be sure. I have a scan tool that can practise abs/srs and more and I think I paid $100? All-time coin I've spent

Scan to notice the location. Sounds like you need the "Help" wiring harness; either the wires rub through or the plug goes bad.

I have not had the ABS checked out by anyone. With the mileage at 187,000 and with both ABS and traction control (on the DIC) being on, I figured I would just supplant the ABS wiring (harness) every bit I have had the ABS/TC light come on before on the other GP's I endemic.
In my other high mileage GP (274,000 miles) I just pulled the bulb for the ABS and covered the traction command light with black tape. Been like that for 7 years.
But, you raise good signal that in that location could be more going on.
I need to become some coin together and buy a fully functional scan tool to that I tin check things out on my own. It is pretty much confronting my organized religion to take whatsoever one of my GP's to a store. All the shops around me don't seem to accept a clue how to diagnose anything.
I had no thought that Rockauto sold a harness for ABS, I will send for i of those.
    Thanks for the advice everyone!

You tin can pull the ABS fuse to shut the lights down, but this too disables the A/C.

I was installing winter tires a few weeks agone, and I saw that the ABS wire was completely pulled off of the right side wheel bearing. That particular cycle begetting is not worn out. I'm not replacing information technology merely to get the ABS and trac light to get off.
I removed the judge cluster and took out the bulb for the ABS and took blackness electric tape to embrace the trac light on the DIC.
